San Marzano wines at Italian Gran Prix Sail GP

Light south-south-westerly winds on the Mar Grande Rada, never so crowded with boats, spectator boats and fans.  On the waters of Taranto, the millennial capital of the sea, the extraordinary F50 racing catamarans, equipped with foil technology and capable of reaching speeds of 50 knots (about 100 km/h). Eight nations, eight teams of international champions, an adrenaline-filled competition: Sail GP.

The only Italian race of Season 2, one of the five European ones together with Plymouth and Saint Tropez, Aarhus and Cadiz, is a celebration inaugurated by the FrecceTricolori show and spent at sea or on the stands set up on the scenic Rotonda del Lungomare and inside the Aragonese Castle, a wonderful setting for the meeting of teams, authorities and journalists.

Two days of acrobatic manoeuvres and smiles, accompanied by San Marzano wines, the Official Wine Supplier of the Italian Grand Prix SailGP and Partner of the event. A selection of whites, rosés and Primitivo San Marzano were offered to guests in the VIP Lounge at the ancient Aragonese Castle in Taranto’s Old Town, on the stands set up on the scenic Lungomare Rotunda and to ferry guests, who watched the regatta from the sea.

A great opportunity for Taranto and a collective challenge for the future: In fact, Sail GP is the only sports organisation that produces events with a positive climate impact, offsetting more than the carbon footprint produced in the making of the championship and supporting the transition to a better future, championing a world powered by nature , just like our sea blue!
