Susco Susumaniello Salento IGP
Susumaniello is a grape variety that has a withdrawn character. That is why it is called “Susco”, which translates into “shy” in the local dialect. The distinctive high-youthful yield of the vine drastically drops as the plant ages. Due to its low productivity when old, it had been set aside in the past but lately it has been revaluated for single variety wines. It gives wines a lively colour, complex bouquet and elegant tannins.
Characteristics
Susumaniello
In French and American oak barrels for 6 months
Bright red with purple reflections. On the nose it offers a bouquet of red and black fruits, violets and light Mediterranean notes. Elegant and subtle taste, with fine and well-integrated tannins. The structure remains measured, focusing more on finesse than strength. Its fresh acidity gives momentum and a clean, fruity finish
It pairs well with roast white meats and light Mediterranean first courses. Its lively acidity makes it ideal with tasty fish and vegetarian cuisine. Also perfect with semi-mature cheeses
