For the second year running, “San Marzano Best Sommelier” is back, a competition which, as the name suggests, will reward the best sommelier, a crucial figure in the spread of wine culture.
The competition will take place in the context of EGO-enogastrorbite, an event organised by the Enogastro HUB association and which will take place in Taranto, Italy, at the Castello Aragonese from 16th – 18th February 2020.

In line with the philosophy of the event, the competition aims to focus on and enhance the professional training of the many figures who revolve around the world of food and wine.
Having consolidated the recognition of Puglian culinary culture, it is now very important to focus attention on other aspects of the hospitality industry, such as the education and skills of the waiting staff, the specific objective of this incentive measure.
San Marzano is pleased to be part of a growing system, making its own contribution to the development of hospitality culture in the community in which it operates and to which it wants to give back value.

Participation in the competition is simple. Simply fill in the application form at:
www.egofestival.it. The candidates, after passing an initial stage linked to general wine culture, will then be called upon to carry out a technical exercise in the field with service, pairing and reception tests. In short, a performance as close to reality as possible. The winner will be able to choose between an experience at a trade fair (in Italy or abroad) with San Marzano’s staff; or a voucher for a study trip to a wine destination of interest.
